Hansel and Gretel are thrown out of their parents' house. On their way through the forest, they meet the wicked witch in the gingerbread house, and all sorts of strange things happen ...

For Christmas, we are transforming the well-known opera “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck into a creative Prohlis Singspiel! Included are well-known melodies such as “Brüderchen, komm tanz mit mir” or the “Abendsegen“. But the exciting story based on the Brothers Grimm is also accompanied by own pieces, the song of the GDR sandman melody or Mozart's “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” as well as a forest improvisation. The Musaik Orchestra is joined by Meiling Daniell-Greenhalgh (mezzo-soprano) as Hansel and Paula Mürb-Hauschild (soprano) as Gretel. The stage design is created by the children together with the Jugendkunstschule Dresden. And the senior citizens of the Bürgerinitative Prohlis e.V. are contributing accessories for the children.

... In the end, the only question that remains is: (How) will the children defeat the witch?
